Rudy, 17 month old male
Zoie, 18 month old female Poor little Zoie! When this sweet young female golden was abandoned or lost she had a “no-jump” harness binding her face and legs. She apparently wandered for weeks fending for herself despite her bindings. Eventually, she became mal-nourished and traumatized to the point of losing all her hair. But luck was on her side as she made her way to the door of a kind lady who took her in and nursed her back to health. Despite some lingering physical reminders of her harnessed pains, such as a little bit of stretched or “extra” facial skin on her check and chin areas, Zoie has managed to shed any emotional scars and shows a heart and spirit that could rival that of any more beautiful golden gal. She now has a full coat of shiny red-gold hair and is beginning to get her feathering. She is extremely smart, attentive, and joyfully playful, bounding and jumping about in the yard with her foster brothers and sisters or even by herself – she throws balls up in the air and then chases them across the yard. Zoie is housebroken and she will come and place her paw on your knee if she needs to go outside. She sleeps soundly all night on a pad beside the bed. She appreciates attention and will gladly share a couch or chair or just lie by your feet. She is responsive to her name and will sit or lie down on command. She is very well behaved when riding in the car. She seems to particularly like women and is attracted by the sound of a woman’s voice speaking or singing. Zoie is looking for a loving home and will be delighted to return that love and dedication twofold to her “forever” person or family.
Maggie, 10 month old female Maggie is a 10 month old spunky, reddish golden retriever. She
was previously an outdoor only dog and has been learning all about the
comforts and challenges of living indoors since mid-December. Although
Maggie lives in a foster home with 2 adult female Golden Retrievers, we
think she is best suited as an only dog with somewhat experienced owners.
She has not been exposed to cats, and she has had very limited exposure to
young children. Although she doesn’t jump much, she would probably display
her curiosity with children with pushy behavior and lots of licking. She
will need supervision at all times because she is very mouthy still.
Tonka, 1-2 year old male Tonka!
Charlie, 15 month old male Yahoo, I'm ready for everything life has to show me", says
Charlie. This 15 month young great big goof of a Golden loves big people,
little people, cats and other dogs. He is crate trained and housebroke. His
foster home has worked very hard on his basics of sit, down and stay but he
is still a young "pup" with lots of energy and a very short attention span
that is easily distracted. He is an absolute joy to watch with his toys as
he is so happy just to entertain himself with them. His foster home has
taught him to fetch and his new home can teach him how to bring it back.
Sam, 15-16 month old male Update (10/26/2007): Sam continues to grow his new coat and is becoming a handsome young man. Feathers are even sprouting a bit on his rear and it is so satisfying to see the progress from complete baldness! Sam is very affectionate and eager to please. He walks well on leash and loves to ride in the car. He sleeps like a log on a pad beside the bed all night and even has to be prodded to get up in the morning. He was used to being crated when left at home or during the nights when he first came but has graduated to trusted citizen status and now can be left free with the other animals. Sam loves to play with other dogs and chew on bones. He is completely housebroken and will ask to go out when necessary. He has the cute habit of wanting to sit in anything resembling a chair outside. He will crawl up into the seat of the tractor, golf cart, lawn furniture or an open car and proudly survey the sites from his new found perch. He keeps us laughing with his constant antics to get our attention. At only 15 months Sam is showing a great deal of maturity and intelligence and should be a delightful companion for his forever family.
Rusty, 3-4 year old male Rusty came to us via a very nice lady who saved him from living
in a neglected and abandoned condition. She took him into her home for a few
weeks during which she took him to her Veterinarian to make sure he was in
good health and insured he got all his vaccinations. She then contacted
GRRRR to see if he could be taken into our Rescue and, of course, the answer
was “yes, absolutely!”
Macy, 1 year old female Macy is a one year old, reddish golden female, weighing about 52 lbs., with a happy go lucky nature. She was abandoned at an area veterinarian’s office before she came to Rescue. She is an active dog who loves to run, chase and play with tennis balls as well as squeaky toys. She has been to the dog park and interacted well with other dogs, and she is just now learning how to swim. Macy’s health is excellent although she has certain signs of hip dysplasia. This diagnosis has not slowed her down one bit and the Veterinarian has recommended daily glucosamine supplements. Certainly, Macy should never be allowed to become overweight as that will stress her joints even more. For more information about hip dysplasia and Macy's diagnosis, talk to the foster home and consult with your veterinarian. Macy is cautious about new situations but she is developing her confidence. Macy will do best in a family where she is the only dog. She has been briefly kid tested and is curious about children in general. She hasn’t been exposed to cats as far as we know. Macy walks well on a lead and will need to continue her obedience training in a formal setting. She is also learning house manners such as sit, down and off and is eager to please. Macy is house trained and kennel trained. Macy is a genuinely affectionate dog looking for a family with an active lifestyle.
Mickie, 2-3 year old female This is the cutest little
Golden girl with a zipper nose and an absolute lover personality as a
bonus. She wants as much cuddle contact as she can get from her humans.
Even in a house full of dogs she prefers the company of humans.
