GRRRR Midwest Morgan

Morgan Daily

(adopted July 2004)

What can you do with a rescue Golden?  One of the things you can do is request an ILP registration with the AKC -- and then you can compete or show in certain classes (e.g. Obedience, Agility, Rally).  Our very own Morgan Daily (officially GRRRR Midwest Morgan to the show ring) and his mom, Kathy, have gone through the obedience ring and earned the coveted CD - Companion Dog title.

Way to go, Morgan!!!  (And Kathy)

Cassie (now Kiwi), one of the PM puppies, adopted by the Richards

From her Dad: Today we’re celebrating the one-year birthday of one of the best litters in the history of the golden retriever breed. Well, most days anyway. We haven’t sent many pictures of our little girls lately, but as you can tell, Kiwi is doing great. And Lolly seems to be taken with lil’ sis more and more each day.

Fetching not only describes her personality but her favorite hobby too. And she has officially unseated Lolly as the A-dog in the household. Lolly doesn’t seem to mind.

Kirby, one of the PM puppies, adopted by the Giorginis

Feb 2007: just weighed in at 90lbs.........and growing!!!!

Ruby, one of the PM puppies, adopted by the Teaters

From her new mom: Ruby is doing great!! We went to get her nails trimmed last week and found out that she weighs 80 pounds!! Wow! It is amazing when you remember that she was the littlest one. Audrey (our oldest) and Ruby are the best of friends. Ruby lights up when Audrey gets home from school everyday. All of our other girls have grown to love her just as much as we do. Olivia (our 1 year old) just crawls all over Ruby and she is such a good dog in that she just lays there. Ruby has also discovered that Olivia is good for people food that falls from the table.

Ruby is such a sweet dog. She does not like it when we are away at all. She really isn't alone all that much though. When it snowed Ruby was absolutely fascinated with all the white. She would not come inside for anything. She jumped all around the backyard like a bunny rabbit! It was hilarious. She is so much fun for us! We are so grateful that you let us have her. She has made our home a happy one. I have a recent picture of Ruby that I will attach. My camera is not the best, but hopefully you will be able to see clearly. We still haven't gotten that family picture with Ruby yet. When we do, I will send that along. How is Charity doing? I think about her often and wonder how she is doing in her new home. We will be having a little party for Ruby this weekend, per our daughters request. She will have a cupcake (from a canine bakery), a party hat, and of course a couple of presents! Thanks again for Ruby.

Simon, adopted by the Burts

Simon was a puppy but not one of the puppy mill puppies.

From his new mom: I wanted to drop you an update on Simon (formerly known as Simon - We kept his adopted name).

He's awesome.

He's about 70-75 pounds so far and still growing.

His personality is great. He's great with the kids. He responds well to commands and has lots of energy.

We take him to the dog park frequently and he loves to run and run and run.

In the past 6 weeks he's mastered turning sharp corners while running hard. Previously he would get "rolled" by other dogs because he wasn't coordinated enough to trust his legs when turning quickly.

Luckily we have a pretty large yard so we can use the chuck-it to play fetch.

He loves to play catch but his favorite game is to play "catch the ball" on the slide.

He takes the ball and gets on the bottom of the slide. He then wants you to roll the ball up the slide so that it comes back down at him and he likes to catch it that way. He can do this for hours. This is the only time I worry about OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder). There is a picture of Cameron and Simon playing on the slide.

He's so funny to watch when he's alone in the backyard.

When he can't convince one of us to come out and play catch with him, he will play catch with himself. We have a hill in our back yard so he'll take a ball to the top of the hill, let it go and then chase it down the hill, catch it, and bring it back up the hill to the top and repeat.

He still gets car sick a little. He starts to drool a lot but he hasn't thrown up in a while. I hope he outgrows it. If not, we just drive around and the kids cover up with beach towels. The things we do for our pets.

Simon also has 3 kitties he shares a house with. 2 - 6 month old kittens and one 1 1/2 yr old cat. They all get along pretty well. They are still feeling each other out at times but most of the time they just ignore each other.

It's funny, the cats have raised him and there are times he acts and plays just like a cat. He just doesn't realize he's 100 times bigger than them.

He also has 4 other great dog friends. two goldens and 1 Australian ridgeback and one combo dog. They come over frequently for "play date" visits. It's very interesting to see that he plays with all the dogs differently. One he wrestles with, two he runs with, and the other they lay around together. Such interesting personalities.

As you can see by the pictures he's turned into and fine, handsome guy.

Thank you for all the love and attention you gave him. we are thrilled to have such a well adjusted and friendly family pet.
